The Whizzer was my first roller coaster and I rode it when "Marriott's" Great America opened in 1976. It didn't have seat belts and my brother would always reach out to try grab the branches of the trees in the banked turns.

The food looks and tastes disgusting. This is why we eat before going in to the park, then just grab some snacks or eat after we leave the park.

So I’m an old guy who still has an appreciation for theme parks. I knew Six Flags quite well in the 70’s. As a season pass holder I spent lots of weekends there. SF over MA used to be an amazing place. Everything was clean, the landscape was beautiful with the most amazing hanging baskets. The employees were so very nice and really cared if you were enjoying yourself. There was almost a competition for kids to get a job there. Visitors to the park were generally very respectful and dressed in fun, casual, but appropriate attire. There was entertainment throughout the park with a lot of your favorite cartoon characters whether you were walking the park or standing in line for a ride. Over the years, this has all declined. You can see that they generally maintain the park but they sure don’t seem to go out of their way like they used to. Cleanliness is far from what it used to be and their efforts in landscape are pretty lame compared to years back. Besides being overly expensive, the food is crap and most of all the quality of employees has all but disappeared. It’s just a job to them and they don’t seem to give a crap about the visitors. It’s very. sad to see a landmark like this go to crap like it has but I guess that’s the common theme if places like this.

I love this park sometimes in the first months of the year there are some things that aren’t amazing due to maintenance. However aside from winter operations I have no complaints with this park. Some people complain about the lineup but i have at least enjoyed every coaster there and the flats are decent. Also the food is incredible and most of it is on the dining plan unlike some parks where the dining plan is lacking many of the best options. I would recommend anyone who can visit the park to visit it as there is truly something for everyone and this park is just so so so charming.

For me, the highlight of Steel Curtain is actually the Drachen Fire dive drop and the dive loop.

Can I use some of this video in my review of The Joker: Fun House Coaster? I feel being able to show the history like this would be awesome!

This is my home park. I agree and disagree on a few things. Usually the staff is very efficient, but for some rides they might be lazy. They usually don't have an attitude and are very funny. Those are the only things I disagree about, everything else is pretty much true. I get why some people don't like clones, but I can see why you might dislike batman. Mr. Freeze is awesome though, especially on the launch, and only has 1 other clone. Ninja needs to be replaced, Boomerang needs to be destroyed. Now, the wooden coasters are awesome. You have one scenic coaster, one smooth, yet thrilling coaster, and 1 downright bone shaking coaster. Also there ice cream and waffle cones are awesome. Anyway, decent video

Me & my family leave our house at 3 am to go to carowinds we live 2 hours away and need to eat first but we are usually quick because we love the park so we get there about 2 hours early since we have season passes we get in the park early so if that’s how it is no cause we went over 4 years ago and haven’t had money but if it’s still somewhat the same 2 hours would let you be super early

I always wanted to visit there for every ride, I know I'll won't fit on Twisted Timbers lap bar, needed assistance for Drop Tower shoulder harness due to my boarded shoulders. I also know I'll fit on Dominator, Intimidator 305, and other stuff there.

Flight of Fear needs to change the restraints again. Tall people like me struggle to get leg room

Before they changed the dining pass, we would use our daily snack for a funnel cake, then only paid like $3 for the sundae toppings. I worked foods in SW Territory ‘17 and would use my employee discount to only pay $0.30. Also their black bean burger is bigger in the employee cafeteria than the guests’ gofresh which i had all the time

I fondly remember my father taking me to Marriott's Great America in the bicentennial year of 1976. It had only been open a few weeks and I could not believe my 7-year old eyes! Everything had perfect paint, every walkway looked like you could eat off of it and there were lots and lots of beautiful flowers everywhere. To me, it was like I walked into Oz! I still remember shaking hands with Bugs Bunny & Yosemite Sam. We stopped at a spot near the log ride in Yukon Territory and I had the first corndog of my life. I was in Heaven! Why had no one told me I shared the earth with these delectable creatures before? Today, 45 years later, that little 7 year-old boy has grown into a 200 lb. 52 yr. Old man. But, I still love Great America, and I still love corndogs!
